Bandon and Spot have settled into Seven Hearts like they've always been here. They are proudly sporting their own stall signs and neither has any problem letting Whisper believe she is Queen of all things. Unfortunately for me this means Whisper has been an extra handful to handle, but day to day life and herd stuff is going smoothly.
Bandon's only vice so far is kicking. He has kicked pretty much every time I've handled him to groom or blanket. It's not a hip-swinging-at-you vicious sort of thing, more like an ear-pin 'I could nail you if I wanted to', kind of kick. When I'm working on the hip that he's actively leg lifting, I'll verbally correct him and he'll put it down without much of a fuss. I'm not taking any chances though, I'm treating him as if he is a kicker and could go for a whack at anytime.
He'll even do it after I've taken the blanket off and left his stall. It's just his little release of frustration I guess.
The cold air and frigid winds whipping through the pasture has given me a little more horse in the bridle than he was to start with, I'm really enjoying his level-headed way of handling situations though.
I don't have stadium jumps yet, what I have is a log. As far as I know, Bandon hasn't been introduced to logs.
He explored it then went over without hesitation. The camera missed the timing to get him pulling his knees up from the trot, but he did AND I'm super happy that he didn't budge from the line I asked him to move on. No last minute dodging or otherwise avoiding. So far so good!
